EG x CC Canoe Light Parka - Dune

For our second collaboration with Engineered Garments, we designed pieces inspired by our Colorado landscape that are still distinctively EG. Boulder is immersed in nature, so we wanted the clothing to work in that environment without feeling outdoorsy. Instead of following the trend of "gorp-core," we looked to the past to find the pieces that inspired the movement. During the cultural boom of outdoor sports in the 70s, fashion brands developed cuts and materials supporting an outdoor-centric lifestyle. We pulled inspiration from these vintage styles while making products that feel fresh, as though viewed through a new, modern lens. This collection fits in as comfortably on a mountain hike as at the farmers market or taking a Sunday nap on the couch. Wherever you go, this collection can do it with you while still feeling as nostalgic as an old friend.

The Canoe Parka is a take on the simple parkas from early collections of Engineered Garments. We started with the shape, using a boxy cut that you can throw over almost anything but cutting down the length a bit to allow for plenty of movement and easy access to your pant pockets, this being particularly true when wearing the modified FA Pants from this capsule. The fabric is as close as possible to the extremely popular 60/40 poly/cotton blend cloth of the early 1970s outdoor world. This blend allows the garment to drape perfectly, breathe well, and still be water resistant-- perfect for almost any situation. We used simple pocketing like expanding front hand pockets with a hidden side entry, an arm pocket for electronics, and a zip closure back map pocket for anything extra you want on you while out. We simplified our approach to the details to preserve the shape and silhouette of the jacket, most notably seen through the use of a hidden placket, plus a dual-way zipper and adjustable hem so that no matter the layering, the shape always remains spot on to your personal needs. The fabric choice and cut allow the garment to drape perfectly, breathe well, and still be water resistant-- perfect for almost any situation.

Fits a bit boxy, but still relatively true to size. We recommend sizing down if you are ever in-between sizes.
