Returning from fighting fascism in 1945, Max Pittion came back to his hometown of Oyonnax in the French Alps and to work in the family comb and eyeglass factory - Pittion Lunetterie. His aptitude for design, making eyewear that accentuates the depth of character in individual features, brought attention from Paris fashion houses and onto the photographed faces of style icons. Becoming the president of the eyeglasses manufacturing union, Max Pittion helped to create SILMO - the international eyeglass festival that continues to be the largest, most prestigious, and best attended eyewear festival in the world. Retiring in 1981, his great contributions to the industry and the nostalgia for his signature designs were resurrected in 2013 by devotees of his characterizing art. Light Co. Ltd. in Japan have recreated signature styles and redesigned striking new additions under the guidance of creative directors John Mayer and Tommy O'Gara.
