19-69
The sense of smell is directly connected to memory. For most people, finding a scent to wear develops over time and with experience. It is entirely individual. 19-69 flipped that idea on its head. Through story-driven suggestion that mines powerful moments in counter-culture history and the creative fantasies that we’re all capable of, 19-69 fragrances transports the user back in time and around the world. These are fragrances of shared experiences, cultural memory, and collective aspirations.
Named after his birth year and the 1969 era counter-culture, Swedish fashion designer and photographer Johan Bergelin combines the personal with the universal in his approach to blending fragrance notes. A two year creative process with artisans in Sweden, France, and Italy led to the initial launch of five 19-69 fragrances at Colette in Paris in 2017. With the lofty goal to bottle the intangible, each scent slowly reveals a unique journey that pulls the individual into the narrative. These are fragrances of the zeitgeist that push the boundaries of modern perfumery.
