EG x CC Canoe FA Pant - Ivy

For our second collaboration with Engineered Garments, we designed pieces inspired by our Colorado landscape, that are still distinctively EG. Boulder is immersed in nature, so we wanted the clothing to work in that environment without feeling outdoorsy. Instead of following the trend of "gorp-core," we looked to the past to find the pieces that inspired the movement. During the cultural boom of outdoor sports in the 70s, fashion brands developed cuts and materials supporting an outdoor-centric lifestyle. We pulled inspiration from these vintage styles while making products that feel fresh, as though viewed through a new, modern lens. This collection fits in as comfortably on a mountain hike as at the farmers market or taking a Sunday nap on the couch. Wherever you go, this collection can do it with you while still feeling as nostalgic as an old friend.

The Canoe FA is a modified version of the iconic FA Pant from Engineered Garments. We used the original pants' hyper-functional pocketing system but altered it to sit perfectly with the shorter length of the Canoe Parka from this capsule. The comfortable fit of the original FA Pant was a perfect choice for this collection as it provides a ton of movement through its roomier fit, gusseted knee, and adjustable hem. The pockets have been adjusted from the original to slant hand pockets, a sizeable expanding flap closure hip pocket on the right-hand side, a front-facing flap closure expanding hip pocket on the left-hand side, two roomy rear flap closure pockets, and another small expanding pocket on top the left-hand rear pocket. This pocket system allows you to carry everything you need for a full trail hike or a long daily commute without needing a bag. The pockets sit cleanly with the silhouette of the pants so that while there is a good amount of storage, they won't look or feel excessive. The material of the FA pants was super important to us. We used an extra-washed and brushed cotton fabric with plenty of texture and character that only gets better and softer with every wear. You will feel the ultra-soft hand and drape immediately, and every wear going forward will only feel better. Each pair has a natural, unique finish that showcases the rich fiber structure of the weave, giving the pants a distinctive quality that balances out the combination of fabrics and makes them as soft as sweatpants.
