Lot. 209 Buckle-Backed Trousers - Hand Drawn Sumi
The Lot.209 Buckle-Backed Trousers trace their lineage back to 1920s workwear, borrowing the wide, straight silhouette and buckle-back adjustability from Lot.704 denim. What sets the Hand Drawn Sumi edition apart is the artistry in its fabric. Inspired by traditional marbling works created with sumi ink by Kyoto’s Kamisoe workshop, each pair is individually hand-painted by a Yuzen dyeing artisan. The brushstrokes and shading capture the nuance of sumi ink on cotton, ensuring that no two pairs are alike. Like their archival predecessors, the trousers use iron buttons and engraved back parts left uncoated so they naturally age with time, echoing the patina of well-used vintage clothing. The result is a pair of trousers that sits between workwear utility and Japanese textile art, made to become more personal with every wear.
