Made famous by the threadbare, highly repaired versions floating around now, the French Workwear jacket is a staple in menswear. Worn by the workers' unions in France, these baby blue or purply indigo jackets were simple chore coats made of tough lightweight twill worn over the tops of oxfords to keep them clean and provide functionality. Seen here in a light blue with tonal notes from heavy wear and some great hand-repair work. These jackets are made special by each individual who wore them. Each hand-repair shows the vigilance of the wearer to keep them alive for years and years. These are as much pieces of art as they are a functional garment.
